In the early morning, on July 23, 1982, Morrow and two child-actresses (My-Ca Dinh Le (age 7) and Renee Shin-Yi Chen (age 6), were killed in an accident while filming on location for the Twilight Zone: The Movie in Ventura County, California—an area between Santa Clarita and Piru. Morrow was playing the role of Bill Connor, a racist man who is taken back in time to be persecuted based on various religious beliefs or racial differences, such as a Jewish Holocaust victim, an African American man who is about to be lynched by the Kl Klux Klan and a Vietnamese man who is cornered by American Soldiers. The two young girls were filming the Vietnam sequence in which their characters attempt to flee from a pursuing United States Army helicopter.

The helicopter used for the scene was hovering roughly 25 feet above the actors when various pyrotechnic explosions damaged the vehicle and caused it to crash on top of them, killing all three actors instantly. The tragedy was caused by a faulty explosion; the helicopter’s blades decapitated Morrow and one of the young girls.

The lawsuit dated to an incident which took place in 1998 at a post-premiere party for the DiCaprio film "The Man In The Iron Mask." Roger Wilson attended this party with his then-girlfriend Elizabeth Berkley. Also in attendance were DiCaprio and a group of friends. At this party, DiCaprio's publicist Karen Tenzer allegedly spoke to Elizabeth Berkley on behalf of DiCaprio and asked her to leave Wilson and join DiCaprio and his friends. Elizabeth Berkley declined, saying she was committed to her boyfriend.

According to Wilson, the following day Elizabeth Berkley received multiple voicemails from Karen Tenzer asking her to join DiCaprio and his friends for dinner that evening. Elizabeth Berkley again declined, leading to a voicemail from Karen Tenzer left on the evening of March 3, 1998. Roger Wilson then called Tenzer and asked her to stop contacting Elizabeth Berkley. However, during the course of the phone call, DiCaprio's friend Jay Ferguson allegedly yelled at Wilson over the phone that he was interfering with DiCaprio and his friends, who were entitled to do as they wanted. He furthermore allegedly told Wilson that if he wanted to settle the matter, he should meet DiCaprio and his friends at the Manhattan establishment Asia De Cuba.

According to Wilson, when he arrived at Asia De Cuba, Jay Ferguson was intoxicated and profanely informed him that he was the person who he had spoken to. The basis for Wilson's lawsuit was based on the claim that DiCaprio then said the words "We'll go kick his ass," an incitement to violence. After Wilson went outside, he was followed by DiCaprio and his friends and allegedly assaulted by DiCaprio's friend Todd Healy, who proceeded to choke him.

In his lawsuit, Roger Wilson sought damages of $45 million related to damage to his larynx and claimed that DiCaprio bore responsibility for the incident, since he had incited it with his words. As part of his lawsuit, he included photographs of the damage done to his larynx. He sought $15 million in compensatory damages related to his inability to continue acting or musical work because of the damage to his vocal cords and $30 million in punitive damages. In November of 2002, his lawsuit was allowed to proceed by New York State Supreme Court Justice Paula Omansky.

In September of 2004, Omansky dismissed the case against DiCaprio. In her ruling, Omansky said that according to the evidence presented by DiCaprio's lawyers, it could not be proven that Todd Healy had heard DiCaprio's words. Therefore, any action Healy took against Wilson was not the actor's responsibility. Her ruling allowed Wilson to proceed with a separate lawsuit against Healy if he wished. 

Who was Buddy Holly?

Born on September 7 of 1936, Charles Holley, better known as Buddy Holley, was an American singer-songwriter and one of the original pioneers of Rock and Roll music. Buddy Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas, where at a young age, the future star developed a connection with music and various instruments. Buddy Holley, who was extremely ambitious even as an adolescent, developed a unique blue grass sound that caught the attention of various crowds he performed for. In 1956, following a performance, Buddy Holly signed a contract with Decca Records. Holly formed his own band, called The Crickets, which consisted of Holly (lead guitar and vocalist), Joe Maulding (bass), Jerry Allison (drums) and Niki Sullivan (guitar). Although the band was profitable and enjoying success, Holly felt restricted by the label’s musical preferences. As a result of these creative impediments, Holly hired Norman Petty as manager, who subsequently contracts various music publishers and labels.

  With a new manager and more freedom, Holly and the Crickets experienced massive success in 1957 and 1958. Holly, who was signed as both a solo artist and the lead member of the Crickets, skyrocketed atop the music charts for his two debut albums that were released on November 27, 1957 and February 20, 1958.

The Death of a Rising Star:

Buddy Holly was offered a prominent spot in the Winter Dance Party—a three-week tour across the Midwest of the United States which opened on January 23, 1959. Holly, who was thrilled to be a part of a massive tour, assembled a makeshift band as a result of the Cricket’s break-up; Holly’s band members refused to move to New York with Buddy during the latter portion of 1958.  The tour ultimately proved disastrous; Holly and his band mates were subjected to lengthy road trips on buses that were plagued with faulty heating systems and malfunctioning engines.

Following a performance in Clear Lake, Iowa on February 2, 1959, Holly, who was sick of bus trips, chartered a small jet to take him and three band members (Jennings opted for the bus as a result of limiting seating) to the next stop on tour.

Shortly after the jet took off, the plane crashed near Mason City in the early hours of February 3, 1959. Everyone on board, including Holly, tragically died. Holly’s funeral was held on February 7, 1959 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. To augment the tragedy, Holly’s then pregnant wife, a widow after only 6 months of marriage, miscarried the couple’s child, ultimately ending that part of Buddy Holly’s family tree. This miscarriage was reportedly linked to the incident; Holly’s wife was so psychologically damaged from her husband’s death. Although Holly died during the ascension of his career, his legacy and his music, were used to evolve Rock and Roll music into a dominating art form throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

Born Christopher Wallace on May 21, 1972, Biggie Smalls was an American Rapper who was known for his smooth flow and quick-witted lyrics. Biggie Smalls was raised in Brooklyn, New York and released his debut album Ready to Die in 1994. The album, which reached multi-platinum status, is regarded as one of the best rap CD’s of all time. Biggie Smalls, due to his popularity and aggressive rhymes, became a central figure in the East Coast hip-hop scene. As a result of his success, Smalls increased New York’s rap credentials at a time when the majority of rap artists came from the West Coast.

Biggie’s rise to prominence is directly correlated with his death. During the late 1990’s a feud developed between Biggie’s rap label, Bad Boy and the West Coast rap empire, Death Row Records. The West Coast rap scene, which was led by Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg was intertwined with gang life and the gangster credo that dominated rap music in this era. Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, who were once close friends, were at the forefront of the East Coast versus West Coast rap feud that dominated this era of hip hop music. The two sides made their conflict public as Biggie and Tupac rapped about their own dominance and routinely threatened one another over their songs. This coastal drama eventually led to the death of Biggie Smalls.

Wallace, who was travelling in the front passenger seat of the truck, was joined by fellow rappers Lil’ cease and driver, Gregory Young. By 12:45 a.m, the streets were mobbed with people leaving the party. When Wallace’s SUV stopped at a red light, a black Chevy Impala pulled up alongside. The driver of the impala, an African American male, rolled down his window and fired at the SUV with a 9 mm blue-steel pistol. The SUV was riddled with bullets, four of which struck Biggie Smalls in the chest. Wallace’s entourage rushed him to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center, but it was too late—Biggie Smalls was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.

Who is John Edwards?

Born on June 10, 1953 John Edwards is an American politician who served as a United States Senator from the state of North Carolina. Edwards was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in the 2004 Presidential election; additionally, Edwards was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008. When John Edwards and John Kerry lost the Presidential election to elected President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, Edwards began working as a full-time employee at the One American Committee—a political action organization he started in 2001.

While attending the University of North Carolina, Edwards met Elizabeth Anania. The couple married in 1977 and had four children together. On November 3, 2004 Elizabeth revealed that she had been diagnosed with a malignant form of breast cancer; she was treated via radiotherapy and chemotherapy and maintained her position within the Democratic Party.

John Edwards: A Cheater:

The couple announced, during Edwards’ campaign for Democratic nomination, that Elizabeth’s breast cancer had reached incurable levels. While battling with this tragedy, allegations began to swirl that Edwards had a child out of wedlock, with his supposed mistress, Riselle Hunter. Although Edwards vehemently denied these allegations, the former Senator admitted to infidelity and the birth of the child on January 21, 2010. Shocked by this admission, Elizabeth immediately separated from Edwards and intended to file for divorce following a mandatory one-year waiting period. During this waiting period, Elizabeth unfortunately fell victim to her tenacious disease. Elizabeth Edwards passed away from metastatic breast cancer on December 7, 2010.

The rumors concerning Edwards’ extramarital affairs were first reported by The National Enquirer—a popular tabloid in the United States. The tabloid reported that Edwards had been seeing former campaign worker, Rielle Hunter around the beginning of 2007. By the summer of 2008, several media outlets speculated Edwards’ chances for office were damaged by these allegations, which now included that he fathered a child with Hunter and had visited them at a Beverly Hills Hotel.

Edwards first admitted to having an affair during an interview with Bob Woodruff of ABC news on August 8, 2008. During this interview, Edwards admitted that the affair took place in 2006, but denied being the father of her child. Over time, evidence, such as voice mails and even sex tapes, surfaced that offered inconclusive evidence that Edwards is indeed the father of the child.
